Request Summary: Numbers of spinal patients and appointments

Question Number 1:
Please provide the following information in respect of the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment centre.

On each of the following dates, the total number of spinal cord injured people ‘registered’ at your spinal cord injury centre:

(a) 1 April 2013;
(b) 1 April 2016;
(c) 1 April 2018;
(d) 1 October 2018

Note - For each of (a) to (d) above, please exclude those people who were referred to your centre, but declined.
 
Answer To Question 1:
The following number of patients were registered at the Spinal Unit on the given days. To achieve these figures we have looked at the number of patients with an open referral at each point in time.

a) 1 April 2013 = 1693
b) 1 April 2016 = 1087
c) 1 April 2018 = 553
d) 1 October 2018 = 270
 
Question Number 2:
In the period 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013, what was the total number of spinal cord injured people (adults and children combined) admitted/seen at your spinal cord injury centre as an:

(a) inpatient or day patient;
(b) outpatient?

Note – This question focuses on the number of spinal cord injured people treated or seen, not the number of appointments. So, for example, a patient attending say three outpatient appointments in the given year should only be counted once.
 
Answer To Question 2:
The following number of patients were seen in the Spinal Unit during the given time period:

a) Inpatient or Daycase = 455
b) Outpatient = 747
 
Question Number 3:
In the period 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016, what was the total number of spinal cord injured people (adults and children combined) admitted/seen at your spinal cord injury centre as an:

(a) inpatient or day patient;
(b) outpatient?

Note – This question focuses on the number of spinal cord injured people treated or seen, not the number of appointments. So, for example, a patient attending say three outpatient appointments in the given year should only be counted once.
 
Answer To Question 3:
The following number of patients were seen in the Spinal Unit during the given time period:

a) Inpatient or Daycase = 227
b) Outpatient = 737
 
Question Number 4:
In the period 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018, what was the total number of spinal cord injured people (adults and children combined) admitted/seen at your spinal cord injury centre as an:

(a) inpatient or day patient;
(b) outpatient?

Note – This question focuses on the number of spinal cord injured people treated or seen, not the number of appointments. So, for example, a patient attending say three outpatient appointments in the given year should only be counted once
 
Answer To Question 4:
The following number of patients were seen in the Spinal Unit during the given time period:

a) Inpatient or Daycase = 528
b) Outpatient = 1162
 
Question Number 5:
For each of the following years, what was the total number of attended outpatient appointments at your spinal cord injury centre:

(a) 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013;
(b) 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016;
(c) 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.

Note – This question focuses on the number of appointments attended.
 
Answer To Question 5:
The following number of outpatient appointments were attended at our Spinal Unit in the give time periods:

a) 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013 = 1094
b) 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016 = 965
c) 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 = 1803
