Request Category: Media

Question Number 1:
How many admissions of children (under 18's) presenting with eating disorders your trust has recorded in the past five years.

Answer To Question 1:
The following number of patients under 18 presenting with eating disorders have been admitted in the given time periods.

Year Number of Admissions for Eating Disorders
2014 10
2015 9
2016 9
2017 13
2018 15

Question Number 2:
How many admissions of children (under 18's) presenting with eating disorders your trust has recorded in the past five years.

Answer To Question 2:

Question Number 3:
I would like to know how many of these children treated were male/female/transgender.

Answer To Question 3:
We don’t record a patient as being transgender on our EPR. They will be Male/Female up to the point at which they officially change their gender and then the system is changed to reflect this. We don’t record the period of transition.

2014 - all 10 are female
2015 - all 9 are female
For the remaining years when the data is split by gender the numbers are reduced to levels that are less that 5, therefore we cannot provide the exact number of patients.

Question Number 4:
I would like to know how many of these children treated were male/female/transgender.

Answer To Question 4:

Question Number 5:
Please present all this information simply and clearly and break it down by year. Please provide as much detail as possible about the nature of their illness (I understand that some children may present with multiple illnesses). I would like this information broken down by type of eating disorder e.g. bulimia, anorexia etc. For example:
2013:
-XXX male children. 55% anorexia, 45% bulimia
-XXX female children 450 anorexia, 150 bulimia
-XXX transgender children

Answer To Question 5:
We cannot answer Q3 as the numbers are too low when split by Year and Disorder, therefore it becomes potentially patient identifiable.
