Question Number 1:
All of these questions relate to term pregnancies +37 weeks

How many babies were born at your hospital trust in the following years 2018 / 2017 and were:

a) Intrapartum stillbirths where the baby was thought to be alive when labour started?
b) Early neonatal deaths?
c) Severe brain injuries?
Answer To Question 1:
a) None
b) 2017 = 1 baby 2018= 1 baby.
c) 2017 - Babies sent for therapeutic cooling 2017= 1 baby. 2018= 2 babies
Question Number 2:
Of these injuries / deaths – how many relate to babies where the mother had a pre-planned and pre-booked Ceasarean section?

Of these injuries / deaths – how many occurred:

a) On the labour ward (or after being born on labour ward)?
b) At a midwife led facility (or after birth at a midwife led facility)?
c) At home or another location (or after birth at home or another location)?
Answer To Question 3:
a) The babies who were therapeutically cooled i.e. 1 in 2017 and 2 in 2018 were admitted to Neonatal care straight from birth on labour ward.
b) NA
c) 2017- Baby born following an unknown pregnancy at home and unattended- Death confirmed on admission
2018- Breech birth unplanned at home delivered in ambulance on transfer and died in a tertiary unit

Where these happened at a midwife led unit, how many happened / followed birth at:

a) A stand alone unit?
b) A side by side unit with the same hospital building?
Answer To Question 4:
Currently Salisbury does not have a Midwifery led provision
Question Number 5:
Of the injuries / deaths which occurred on labour ward or after delivery on labour ward, how many happened:

d) Following a transfer to labour ward from a midwifery led facility?
e) Following a transfer from home or another location?
f) Happened where the mother’s first admission was to labour ward?
Answer To Question 5:
a) None
b) None
c) 2017 = Baby born following first admission of mother to the labour ward for induction of labour- therapeutically cooled
2018 = 1 baby born and cooled after admission to labour ward in active labour
1 baby born and cooled after admission to DAU then transfer to labour ward for induction of labour
Question Number 6:
Where there was a transfer from a midwifery led facility, how many of these were from:

c) A stand alone unit?
d) A side by side unit with the same hospital building?
Answer To Question 6:
Currently Salisbury does not have a Midwifery led provision
