Request Summary: Cancellation of operations due to poor patient fasting 2014-2019
Request Category: Students (Educational)
|Question Number 1:|
I am looking at reducing cancelations to patients due to poor fasting prior to surgery at Salisbury hospital.
Please provide information on how many surgical procedures were cancelled in the last five years (or what ever information you have) due to poor patient starvation at Salisbury.
|Answer To Question 1:|
The following number of operations have been cancelled due to patients not following pre-op guidance, which will include a cohort that did not follow fasting instructions.
We are not able to specifically say how many did not fast correctly because this is not specifically recorded in the data. This was relayed to the FOI requestor who advised that they would still like the numbers for patient not following pre-op guidance.
2014 = 26
2015 = 15
2016 = 13
2017 = 19
2018 = 25
