Request Summary: Delayed discharges

Request Category: Private Individuals

Question Number 1:
Of those patients who experienced delayed discharge and were discharged in (a) 2019 and (b) 2020 (so far), how many were delayed due to health and social care reasons for (a) 1-3 months, (b) 3-6 months (c) 6-9 months, (d) 9-12 months, (e) 12-18 months, (f) 18-24 months, and (g) over 24 months.

Answer To Question 1:
In the period 1st January 2019 to 31st January 2020 there were 9 patients who were delayed due to Health and Social Care reasons for 1-3 months. No patients were delayed any longer than this.

We are not able to split this figure down by year because this will reduce the numbers to <=5 and therefore are too few to provide the actual number, as per IG guidelines.

Question Number 2:
What was the longest any patient discharged in (a) 2019 and (b) 2020 (so far) was delayed due to a delayed discharge based on health and social care reasons.

Answer To Question 2:
In the period 1st January 2019 to 31st January 2020 the patients who were delayed due to Health and Social Care reasons for 1-3 months accumulated 139 delayed days between them.

Question Number 3:
Of those patients currently experiencing delayed discharge due to health and social care reasons, how many have been delayed for (a) 1-3 months, (b) 3-6 months (c) 6-9 months, (d) 9-12 months, (e) 12-18 months, (f) 18-24 months, and (g) over 24 months.

Answer To Question 3:
There are no patients currently delayed for Health and Social Care Reasons.

Question Number 4:
What is the longest any patient currently experiencing delayed discharge due to health and social care reasons has been delayed.

Answer To Question 4:
There are no patients currently delayed for Health and Social Care Reasons, therefore there are no delayed days to report.
