Question Number 1:
I am writing with a Freedom of Information request regarding the provision and delivery of audiology services within your trust.

To better understand how your trust deals with audiology services, please clarify whether your Acute Trust provides these services:

a. In-house (i.e. delivered in your NHS Acute Trust or provided by another NHS organisation)

b. Outsources (i.e. delivered by an independent provider in their care setting)

c. Insources (i.e. delivered by an independent provider in your care setting)

Additionally, please provide the following data for your Acute Trust and for each financial year 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24:

Please use answer sheet attached. If any of the specific splits are not available, please provide total figures for the system and specify which main splits are recorded by your Trust (in-house / independent sector).


Hearing assessments

1. How many patients had a hearing assessment within the following settings and what was the total spending in £ on treating these patients (where possible please could you give the data per independent provider contracted):

a. In-house

b. Outsourced

Answer To Question 1:
The in house cost of this procedure will be included in the cost of audiology outpatients. Unfortunately we do not differentiate the cost of different types of outpatient appointments beyond first and follow up, and so do not record this specific information.

Response from Procurement in attached spreadsheet. We are unable to split Hearing Aid Aftercare costs. Hearing aid aftercare is warranty claim only with the manufacturer.

Could you please provide a copy of the service specification given to all bidders for when the contract for hearing aid services was last advertised?
 
Answer To Question 5:
Response from Procurement:

Our audiology contract was awarded via the 2022/S 000-010796 Hearing Aids, Hearing Aid Batteries, Custom Ear Moulds and Hearing Aid Accessories Framework, no service specifications were provided direct to bidders.

The original specification would have been issued by the Framework Providers, NHS Supply Chain.
