I was elected governor in July 2020. I moved to Salisbury with my husband and young family in 2001, and worked at Salisbury District Hospital for 6 yrs., in Outpatients and Dermatology before moving to New Hall Hospital, where I currently work part time in Pre-operative Assessment
.I have been nursing for over 40 years with a brief break when we started a family and then worked in Pharmaceutical sales for 18 months. I bring a vast amount of varied nursing experience including General Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Dermatology and Outpatient Departments. I was also nursing in the Royal Air Force for 6 years, which involved both the casualty evacuation of American Marines from Beirut to Cyprus, and sailing to collect British Nationals evacuating from Beirut in the mid 1980’s. I was then on loan Service to the Foreign Office working in the medical centre in the Embassy in Beijing, responsible for the health of both Foreign Office staff and their families. I also visited English University students if they were admitted to the local hospital.
I have always been, and am a passionate advocate for the patient, and during my varied career have always ensured, to the best of my ability, that the patient receives the best possible care during their hospital journey.
Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
