Celebrating 75 Years of the NHS at Salisbury Cathedral

11 May 2023
Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury Cathedral are holding a special service to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS and 80 years since the US Army opened a hospital in Odstock. The service, which starts at 5:30pm on Monday 26th June, is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and join health and care staff to celebrate this significant milestone of our National Health Service, which was founded on 5th July in 1948. This ecumenical service is open to all communities in South Wiltshire, North and East Dorset and South West Hampshire and warm welcome will be given to all faiths and those with none. Pictured above is Salisbury Hospital's Poet in Residence Martin Figura reading from one of his poems during the 'We Reflect' Service held at the Cathedral in March 2022.

Visitors no longer required to wear face masks

04 May 2023
From Thursday 4th May 2023, visitors to Salisbury District Hospital are once again no longer required to wear face masks, unless it is their personal preference to do so. These changes have been made in line with national guidance on the mandated use of face masks in healthcare settings and reducing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases. However, to continue to protect those who are most vulnerable and at high-risk, they ask that the wearing of face masks continues where immuno-compromised patients are treated. Industrial action by Royal College of Nursing (RCN), 8pm 30th April to 8pm 2nd May

24 April 2023
During industrial action by Royal College of Nursing (RCN) members, which will take place  from 8pm 30th April to 8pm 2nd May, we will work to ensure our wards are safely staffed and that critical services are maintained. If you need medical help or advice, or you are unsure about whether you should go to hospital, go to NHS 111 online unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should still call 999. Patients should only call 999 or attend A&E if it is a medical or mental health emergency (when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk). Regardless of any strike action taking place, it is really important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward as normal, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases - when someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.
