Car parking changes at Salisbury District Hospital

03 February 2023
Car parking at the hospital is very busy, at peak times, typically 10am – 4pm, demand for space is greater than capacity, resulting in delays in finding a car parking space. We encourage all staff and visitors to use public transport and other sustainable means of travel to the hospital, like lift sharing, whenever appropriate and possible. As of Monday 6th February our patient and visitor car parks will be controlled by Automatic Number Plate Recognition ANPR cameras, which capture vehicle registrations as you drive onto the hospital site. When you return to your vehicle, at the end of your hospital visit, please enter your vehicle registration number into the car park pay terminal, located inside the car park and pay for the time used. Payment can be made with cash, bank card, including contactless, or via mobile phone app. Please note the payment machines do not give change.

Royal College of Nursing Industrial Action - 6th and 7th February

03 February 2023
During the upcoming industrial action on 6th and 7th February by the Royal College of Nursing at Salisbury District Hospital, the focus of the hospital is to maintain safe and compassionate patient care. The hospital has been working closely with the Royal College of Nursing to ensure our wards are safely staffed and that critical services are maintained. Our Accident & Emergency Department and urgent care services will be functional. If you need to visit A&E please do so and our maternity team will continue to safely deliver babies as they do 24 hours a day. We will have safe staffing levels for all inpatients. However, many of our outpatient clinics and planned surgery may be unable to go ahead as planned. Patients impacted will be contacted directly by the hospital. If you are not contacted directly, we would ask you to attend as planned. We would ask anyone that attends the hospital during the two days of industrial action to please be aware that staff might be stretched and to be prepared to wait a little longer or have appointments delayed.

New Ward for Salisbury District Hospital

30 January 2023
A new inpatient ward is about to be built at Salisbury District Hospital. This ward will help us reduce waiting times for elective surgery. There will be 24 additional beds in this state-of-the-art ward. It will be an environmentally sustainable building that our clinical teams have been heavily involved in designing. Please note that access to Sarum Entrance will only be via the Main Entrance between approximately 7th February – 28th April. Demolition of existing buildings to start at the end of March and construction of the main building will begin in May. Access to all other buildings will remain unchanged throughout the ward construction. Projects updates will be given during this time. Pictured above is an artist's impression of the new building.
