In line with Government guidance, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is now recommending that all pregnant women and their support partner, if experiencing no COVID-19 symptoms, carry out a rapid home test for COVID-19 twice a week.
These tests should be taken for any appointment, for example with a midwife, at a consultant clinic appointment or for an ultrasound scan. If you have not undertaken a Lateral Flow Test prior to attending you may be asked to undertake a test on arrival. Details of how to obtain tests can be found here. You then can record your test result here. When you have completed and recorded your test you will be sent an email or text which you can use as proof of a negative test. You will be asked to show your result on arrival at the hospital.
If you have a positive Lateral Flow Test please contact the Maternity Unit prior to attending your appointment. If your support person has a positive Lateral Flow Test they must not attend the appointment, but another support person can attend with you if they have a negative test. Any person who has a positive test result must follow Government guidance which can be found here.
Hannah Boyd, Interim Head of Maternity and Neonatal Services at the Trust, asks that the guidance is followed and said: “Please be reassured that we are here to support you throughout your pregnancy. If you have any concerns or questions please contact our Maternity Unit.”
