Clinical Neurophysiology

Clinical Neurophysiology is a medical specialty that studies the central and peripheral nervous systems through the recording of bioelectrical activity, whether spontaneous or stimulated. The team in Salisbury provides a service to both hospital in-patients and out-patient clinics, performing a range of neurological diagnostic tests including EEG (brain waves), evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies and EMG (muscle activity). A Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist from University Hospitals Southampton NHS attends part-time to provide the medical lead for the service and to see the more complex cases.
