Training

The department is actively engaged in offering training opportunities in all of its sections. Currently we are accredited by the National School for Healthcare Science as a national training centre for clinical scientists under the Scientist Training Programme [STP], we are an approved hospital to offer placements to undergraduate students enrolled on Orthotic and Prosthetic degree courses and host Foundation Year 2 doctors employed on the Wessex Deanery Academic Foundation Programme as part of their research placement. We are also engaged with the different apprenticeship programmes. Our staff deliver education and training to other professional groups in the hospital and staff are invited to give lectures and seminars at universities. The department also plays an important role in outreach work in local schools and colleges.
