Hand Trauma

We provide a regional specialist hand trauma service, including complex reconstruction, limb salvage and replantation.

Hand trauma covers a broad range of injuries, from closed fractures to complex open wounds involving multiple structures. These injuries can have a significant impact upon a patient’s ability to work or even carry out activities of daily living. Our multidisciplinary team offers acute assessment, diagnosis, management and hand therapy in order to maximise the potential recovery after any injury.

Referrals:

Acute referrals – by telephone (7 days a week):

  • 8am-5pm - Plastics Trauma Coordinator (01722 336262; bleep 1515)
  • 5pm-8am - Plastic Surgery Registrar on call (01722 336262)

Inpatient transfers – email referral form with  photos of wounds, then telephone the Plastics Trauma Coordinator to discuss.
