Benefits for our patients

Help claiming benefits for our cancer patients

In 2011 our Macmillan Benefits advisers successfully claimed over £650,000 for patients with cancer ensuring that these people would be able to continue to be financially viable through treatment. If you would like further information please contact

Carol Wheeler or Alyson Taylor, Macmillan Benefits Advisors, Salisbury & District CAB, 18 College Street, Salisbury (tel: 01722 421277), e-mail: macmillan@cabsalisbury.org.uk

Through our charitable fund we have supported a full time aromatherapy practitioner, Shelley Baker, to relieve symptoms in patients on treatment.

We also provide a ‘pre-assessment’ service to support patients starting out on treatment, an ‘end-of treatment’ group for patients completing treatment and a number of supportive services through treatment including advice on managing hair loss, nausea, diet, psychological problems and drug effects.

Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
