Request Summary: Spinal Chord

Request Category: Media

Question Number 1:
I would like to know if since the pandemic has the nature of the yearly monitoring appointments for those with a spinal cord injury changed.

For example, are these appointments in-person or phone consultation first?

Answer To Question 1:
Prior to COVID, the majority of spinal cord outpatient reviews were face to face, however the Trust were starting to offer virtual appointments to patients. Following COVID, and at present, Spinal cord outpatient reviews are conducted at different intervals depending on their clinical need, stage in their rehabilitation pathway and patient need. Patients are seen both virtually and face to face if indicated.
