If no, where do you refer patients who present with migraine or headache conditions, please? b. If yes, do you offer the following treatments – Botox, CGRP mAbs, and Gepants? c. If yes, please could you clarify if this Clinic/Department is for adults or children, and details of the Hospital that provides this service? d. If yes – what are your current waiting times?
Answer To Question 1: Response to FOI from Wessex Rehab: Q1. No, we do not have a Migraine clinic or service for people with migraine. a.) From the Wessex Rehab Therapy service, patients would be referred back to their GP if presenting with this condition. We very rarely see any of these patients in the pain clinic- they all tend to go through neurology in Southampton (with a satellite clinic in Salisbury). We do see complex facial pain but not specifically migraines. Response from Neurology Service Q1. We see some adult patients with complex headache in the general neurology clinic in SDH, but in general no. We refer or direct these patients to the regional headache clinic in UHS where they have access to these specialist treatments. We do not provide those treatments from SDH.
Question Number 2: Do you offer any support groups for people with migraine or chronic pain conditions?
Answer To Question 2: Q2. Our Chronic Pain service provides a multi-disciplinary approach to chronic / persistent musculoskeletal pain that is delivered in a group setting. Patients can only attend for a set programme following referral so this does not meet the criteria of a support group that patients can self-refer to or decide to attend. Response from Neurology Service: Q2. No, not specifically for migraine. As for chronic pain in general we defer to the pain service response
