Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists

The Breast Clinical Nurse Specialists may also be referred to as CNS's. Your Breast CNS's have a wide range of roles and responsibilities within the team. They are trained with expanded practice and the Breast CNS's will co-ordinate your care throughout your treatment pathway. They are a consistent point of contact between patient and other members of the multidisciplinary team. They are your guides and advocates from diagnosis, throughout your treatment and discharge care.

Cancer Support Team

The Cancer Support Team (based within Salisbury Hospital) are here to help support your cancer diagnosis and treatment, alongside the Clinical Nurse Specialists and Consultants.

What we do;

Support you, and your family from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
Offer Holistic Needs Assessments (HNA) which can help you highlight any practical, social, emotional, financial or spiritual concerns you are worried about.
Offer you an individual care plan to meet your support needs.
Facilitate and recommend health and well-being events to help support and inform you following on from a diagnosis.
Refer or signpost to other services and community groups.
Liaise with other health care professionals involved in your care.
Co-ordinate follow up surveillance programmes.

Cancer Support Centres

Jane Scarth House, Romsey

Jane Scarth House is a walk in Cancer Support Centre which offers support to anyone living with cancer, their family, carer or anyone affected by cancer. Services are free of charge and include drop ins, counselling., complementary therapies, support groups and meditation.

Cancer Support Groups

Salisbury Breast Cancer Support Group:

Salisbury Breast Cancer Support group meet on the second Wednesday of each month to meet, chat, offer support and share information. This group occasionally hold meetings at other venues, so it is best to contact the group prior to attending.

BOOBS (Shaftesbury)

Shaftesbury Breast Cancer Awareness better known as BOOBS is a registered charity based in Shaftesbury, raising breast cancer awareness and helping people with a breast cancer financially and emotionally. BOOBS meet every 3rd Saturday of the month from 11-1pm.

Facing The Future

Facing the Future is a relaxed and social get together talking about anything and everything, 'it's not always about the cancer, it's about helping us to move on'.

Health & Well-being Programme

Health and Well-being Programme

The Health and Well-being programme is a 7 week programme co-ordinated by our Gym Instructors and Psychology team. The programme is a seven week course, open to all cancer patients, during or up to one year after completing treatment.

Each session features educational and information elements, as well as providing social support and an opportunity to take part in taiolred physical activity which is designed to meet your needs.

Topics of the course include: managing fatigue, sleep and sleep hygiene, eating well through and after treatment, pacing yourself, relationships and relaxation.

Free Swimming Sessions

At Salisbury Hospital, we run free swimming sessions on a Friday from 2-3pm for cancer patients; with exclusive use of the pool and changing facilities for patients with cancer.

Look Good Feel Better

This is a one of pampering workshop run at Salisbury hospital whereby trained beauticians provide a make-up and pampering session. You then leave with a wonderful new make-up bag with luxury skin care and make up products. This is just for ladies who have experienced a cancer diagnosis and a lovely way to access some female peer support. If you would like to book in for this session, please call 01722 425137.
