Once treatment ends, you will be referred back to Salisbury District Hospital and placed on our follow-up programme for 5 years so we can monitor you and to help spot any signs of reoccurance/spread of the cancer.
The pathway will vary slightly, depending on the treatment you received:
Radiotherapy:
3 months after your treatment ends, you may have a PET Scan (visit our ‘tests and investigations which might take place’ page for further information), this is to check the success of your treatment. If the medical team are happy with the response and no further treatment is required, then you will be referred back to Salisbury District Hospital and placed on the follow up pathway with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team here. The pathway includes hospital appointments every 2 months for the first year, which increases to yearly appointments thereafter up to 5 years after treatment.
Surgery:
Further to successful surgery, you will be referred back to Salisbury District Hospital and placed on the follow up pathway with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team here. The pathway includes hospital appointments every 2 months for the first year, which increases to yearly appointments thereafter up to 5 years after treatment.
Combination of radiotherapy and surgery:
If you have received a combination of radiotherapy and surgery, then you will follow the follow up pathway described under the above radiotherapy section.
