Medical engineering uses technical and engineering methods to solve problems in medicine. Our team primarily provides solutions for special seating and wheelchair adaptations for people with complex disabilities. They work closely with other healthcare professionals and with regional wheelchair services. A range of special seating solutions are offered, including the Contoured Foam Carved seats that were developed in this department. Clinics may be run in the hospital or off-site depending on service need and there is the capability to also measure interface pressures as part of the overall care package we provide. The purpose built workshop enables us to design and manufacture our own seats, as well as custom made devices for patients such as ones that can be used to help with areas of daily living (e.g. washing, meal times).
Medical Engineering operates under the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 for the assessment, manufacture, supply and fitting of specialist seating and rehabilitation devices/aids. Our quality management system certificate can be viewed on PDF by Clicking here
