Virtual Fracture Clinic has been running since September 2017. It means that you may not need to attend clinic.
Lead Consultant: Mr Neal Jacobs
Service Lead: Katharine Wilcocks
Lead Physiotherapist: Kate Shean
Your x-rays and documentation is reviewed in Virtual fracture clinic by an Orthopaedic Consultant and Specialist Physiotherapist and you will be contacted by phone within 4 working days of your referral being received. This allows us to triage the referrals and ensure that you are seen by the correct member of the team.
If it is appropriate you will receive a telephone consultation with the Physiotherapist and you could be discharged with a patient initiated follow up (PIFU) providing open access to the Fracture clinic for a set period of time. You will receive written advice and exercises to guide your recovery.
If you need to be reviewed in a face to face clinic, you will receive a telephone call from one of the nursing team who will advise you of your appointment and also give you some advice on managing your injury until you are seen.
Virtual Fracture Clinic runs Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17.00.
If you have not been contacted within 4 working days of your referral being sent to us, or your attendance to the Emergency Department please contact us on 01722 336262 ext 2441 and speak to a member of the team.
