We are a specialist children's multidisciplinary team who meet children with limb differences, and their families, to explore if there is any additional treatment that will help them with maximising their functional potential. We see families from the south west region.
We are able to assess and offer surgery or other therapies to improve the form and function for the most complex and rare disorders of the upper limb in babies and children from a very early age.
We work closely with several different specialisms at the hospital such as physiotherapy/occupational therapy, paediatrics, genetics, anaesthetics, radiology, neurophysiology and psychology.
Conditions that we treat include all types of congenital hand and upper limb conditions as well as congenital forefoot conditions:
We assess and treat upper limb birth injuries including nerve injuries.

What to Expect at Your Appointment
When you first attend for a new appointment, the team will spend time gathering a full history from your child and family members and complete a physical assessment. This may include x-ray pictures or photographs to gather full information. The team will carefully discuss with you all what your main concerns are and will help to identify any interventions through either surgery, medical or therapy intervention that may be able to support you. This may include some hand therapy treatment on the day or booking of subsequent appointments.
