Scar Management

SCAR MANAGEMENT

We deliver a multidisciplinary approach to scar management, with access to a broad range of therapies to help with common problems associated with scarring.

Common problems include:

  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Contractures/tightening affecting bodily functions, movement of joints, or appearance
  • Pigmentation
  • Hypertrophic scarring – thick, raised, red, itchy
  • Keloid scarring – raised, firm scarring, often larger than the original wound or scar line
  • Atrophic or “stretched” scarring
  • Psychological distress

Services and therapies we are able to offer:

  • Assessment and advice
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Laser
  • Steroid injections
  • Medication to relieve symptoms
  • Surgical release/reconstruction of contractures
  • Surgical resurfacing
  • Psychological assessment and management
