Directions

By Car:

Using Entrance B, follow the main road to the main carpark (8).
Follow the signs to the Respiratory Department (towards the Sarum Entrance).
The Respiratory Department is located on the right hand side with Red doors.
Enter the department here, turn right and go through the next set of doors.

By Bus:

Leave the bus at the Main Entrance (the 3rd stop the bus will make once on site).
Enter the main building here and walk past the stairs into the main corridor.
From here please follow the signs to the Respiratory Department.
Please note this will take you back outside the building, however this is a flat pathway.
The department is on the left had side of the path, with Red doors.
Enter the department here, turn right and go through the next set of doors.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I have not heard when my appointment will be. What should I do? If you have been referred to us you will be sent a letter letting you know roughly how long the waiting times are for the clinic you need. Please do not call the department but follow the instructions in the letter.

I cannot get onto the YouTube site to complete my sleep assessment appointment. What should I do? Please look carefully at your appointment letter. The following information may help you. If you are still having problems please email us on sft.respiratorynurses@nhs.net
- Please note that between b and H is a zero NOT a letter O.
- Between C and J is an underscore _ NOT a space.
- The last letter is a capital I (i) not a small l (L)

I am still waiting for my appointment to get a CPAP machine. There is currently an international shortage of CPAP machines and so we are not able to run the service as normal. As soon as the flow of equipment starts again we will be back to normal. At present the company we use (Resmed) cannot tell us when that will be. We do apologise.

Can I buy a CPAP machine and mask myself? Yes, you can but this is costly. We would ask that if you do decide to purchase one yourself that you consider doing this from Resmed because this way we can monitor your therapy and the equipment will be the same as what is in use in the service here at Salisbury.

Will I have to come to appointments? We have tried to make the service as safe as possible for both staff and patients. The initial appointment for sleep assessment is performed via you tube video and we will send you the paperwork you need and the oximeter and you will be asked to send this back to us. Please follow the instructions in your appointment letter and on the video. The appointment for set up with a CPAP machine is via video appointment and is in a masterclass of 8 people on the call. Please follow all of the instructions in your appointment invitation carefully. It will be made clear on your invitation letter for the appointment what type of appointment it will be. Please read your appointment letter carefully.

I don’t have access to the internet how can I do these appointments? If you don’t have access to the internet do you have a friend or relative who does who could help you? You may be able to get support at your GP surgery. If you really cannot find any way to access the internet please do call the department (01722 336262 Ext 4220).

Part of my CPAP equipment is broken or worn out what should I do? Please either email sft.respiratorynurses@nhs.net or call the department on 01722 336262 Ext 4220 and someone will answer you request. Please include/have ready your full name, NHS number and/or Salisbury hospital number with exactly what you need. Thank you.

I can’t get through to the Respiratory Department on the phone what should I do? Please keep trying. We are a very small team and will try to answer all of the calls that come into the department but sometimes this is a challenge for us.

My 2 year review is due and I have not been sent an appointment what should I do? Please do call or email the department. If you need replacement equipment, please do have your NHS number, name and details of what you need to hand. Thank you.

What do I do if I need to return equipment to the service? Please return the equipment to either Salisbury District Hospital SP2 8BJ or Blandford Community HospitalDT11 7DD . Please include your name and hospital or NHS number in with the return. Thank you.

I need to change my appointment what do I need to do? If you need to change your appointment please either email sft.respiratorynurses@nhs.net or call the department 01722 336262 Ext 4220. Please be aware that we are a small team and cannot always answer the phone.
