Hospital outpatient appointments

How appointments are booked

New appointments: Once your GP has decided you need to see a hospital urologist, an appointment will be made for you, at a time and clinic that is convenient to you (wherever possible) usually through "Choose and Book"

Follow-up appointments: If follow-up is required, a date and time for this appointment will be arranged for you immediately following your consultation with the urologist.

Waiting times for hospital appointments

  • Waiting times for new patients depend on the urgency of the appointment and are prioritised according to need. Therefore we aim to see:
Non urgent cases within 18 weeks of receipt of referral from your GP
  • Urgent cases within one month of receipt of referral from your GP
  • Patients with suspected cancer in two weeks

For enquiries about your outpatient appointment or operation date and the right number to ring, please go to the contacts page.

Waiting times for operations

The waiting list for operations is also prioritised according to need. Below you will find a guide to the times we aim to meet.

  • Non-urgent cases – within 18 weeks of referral
  • Urgent cases – within 1 month of referral
  • Patients with suspected cancer
  • GP referral to diagnosis time – 31 days
  • Diagnosis to treatment time – 31 days

For enquiries about your outpatient appointment or operation date and the right number to ring, please go to the contacts page.
