Information about joining Theatres at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

#JoinOurPeople and be part of something special

Hi, and thank you for visiting this information page about the Theatre Department at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

We’re currently on an ambitious journey to modernise our theatre services and to develop an environment where all views are heard and valued. This we believe is critical to staff wellbeing and ultimately staff development and will provide us with the opportunity to develop highly effective and importantly happy theatre teams.

Following significant investment into the theatre workforce we’re now looking to recruit enthusiastic and highly motivated theatre practitioners to complement our existing teams. Whether you have previous clinical experience or are newly qualified, we’d love to hear from you!

All we ask is that you demonstrate a keenness to learn, have a passion to help us improve our services and through an inquisitive nature, are happy to embrace change and new ways of working.

Please continue to read on and if I can be of any further assistance, please get in touch via sft.recruitment@nhs.net

Best Wishes

Gary Dawson

Head of Theatre Services

Our Theatre Department consists of 16 theatres primarily split between the main hospital and a dedicated day surgery unit.

Across these theatres we undertake a full range of surgical procedures including trauma and orthopaedics, urology and ENT to name just a few, as well as providing regional speciality support for plastic surgery, spinal injuries and cleft palate pathways.

Our Theatre Teams are comprised of practitioners from a range of professional backgrounds including:

  • Anaesthetists
  • Operating Department Practitioners
  • Scrub Practitioners including Surgical First Assists
  • Recovery Practitioners
  • Health Care Support Workers

All of the above are fully committed to the Trusts future vision for theatres and are happy to pass on their knowledge and experience to new members of the team – on that note please also be assured that your introduction to the department will be fully supported by an induction programme and personal development plan overseen by the theatre education team.

You’ll also be allocated a dedicated ‘buddy’ for the first few weeks to help you settle into the department and to find your way around.

Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
