The reference to #JoinOurPeople was born because our workforce are at the very centre of everything we do and our success is a testament to just how amazing they are. Our people are what make SFT the best place to work so, as well as welcoming them into our community, we make sure that our package of benefits matches the huge value they bring. There are several ways that we enable our staff to have their voices heard and also show our appreciation for the work they do. Some of these are outlined below.

Travel benefits

We have many local benefits running, which currently includes 40% off Salisbury Reds, a bus service that runs to and from the hospital to various locations in and around the City.

Staff also have the option to sign up to the Liftshare Scheme or the Cycle to Work Scheme, and make use of the on-site facilities including Electric Vehicle charging points, secure bike hubs with lockers and access to further lockers and showers through our Leisure Centre's FREE ‘Active Travel’ membership.

Our Trust has achieved gold status as an accredited Cycle Friendly Employer. The accreditation audits employers on their efforts to make their organisation cycle friendly. It is a recognition of our endeavours to foster an inclusive and sustainable workplace. CFE-UK is only awarded to organisations that have exemplary cycle-friendly facilities.

Health & Wellbeing

As an employee of the Trust, you will have access to an extensive range of health and wellbeing resources, to help you deal with life's challenges.

In recognition of the many extraordinary things our staff do in the care of our patients, we also know that the safety, health and wellbeing of our people is critical. We need to look after ourselves and each other so that we can continue to thrive at work and deliver safe, high-quality care.

Reward and Recognition

One of the great things about working for the Trust is the acknowledgement of colleagues that are going the extra mile. To mark these occasions, we have the Sharing Outstanding Excellence (SOX) Award.

Both colleagues and patients can nominate staff. Each month, nominations are shortlisted and presented to the Executive Team who then decide on one winner each from staff and patients' nominations. These two awards are presented to the winning staff members, who get their photo taken and featured in the Staff Bulletin.

Our annual staff 'Thank You' Week is yet another opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate our Salisbury NHS Superstars. The week includes the Long Service AwardsVolunteers 'Thank You' Lunch and the Staff Awards, which was attended by 650 colleagues last year and is set in the grounds of the iconic Salisbury Cathedral.

Categories range from the 'Patient Experience Award' to recognising the 'Team of the Year'. It’s a truly unique and wonderful experience to come together and appreciate every single person who was nominated and to give our people the chance to have a night of free food, fun and entertainment!

 

 

Staff Networks

We are committed to supporting all staff regardless of their background and personal circumstances. Part of how we do this is through our Staff Networks, which provide a safe space for discussion of issues relevant to that group, help raise awareness of issues within the whole workforce, provide individual support to colleagues who may face challenges at work and offer a collective voice to the Trust leadership.

The Trust's Staff Networks include the Ability Confident Network, Armed Forces Network, Culture & Equity Network, LGBTQ Alliance Network, Staff Carers Network, and Women's Network.

 

Our staff at Salisbury District Hospital have long been well regarded for the quality of care and treatment they provide for our patients and for their innovation, commitment and professionalism. This has been recognised in a wide range of achievements and it is reflected in our award of NHS Foundation Trust status. This is afforded to hospitals that provide the highest standards of care.
